Jim Smith: Reflections on Earth Day
Reflections on Earth Day by Jim Smith from The Tributary Fund on Vimeo.
The April 17th, 2011 Spirit of Earth Day consisted of family activities, workshops, Glover Wagner’s “An Environmental Vision” keynote address, performing arts and information tables. And, we heard the history of Earth Day from Jim Smith, one of the organizers of the first Earth Day. Thanks to volunteers Kristin Wimberg, Randy Wimberg, David Madison and Jim Bergman, we recorded the workshops, keynote and closing ceremony. The first of the ten videos is Jim Smith: Reflections on Earth Day. Mr. Smith passed away a couple weeks after this presentation and we were honored to have him lend some of his precious time recollecting how the first Earth Day came to be.
We are thrilled to welcome our new intern, Hannah Kriezer. How did she get involved? Check out her blog entries! http://thetributaryfund.org/blog/
Here is our June article on prayer flags for Home Style & Design Magazine, written by our wonderful intern, Kelsey Larson. Scroll through to find it on page 29.
The Tributary Fund writes an article each month for Home Style & Design magazine. Our most recent article was on pollinators! The Buzz About Bees (flip to page 30)
Green Lent: Give Up Carbon This Year!
Rather than giving up chocolate or caffeine, consider giving up some carbon for Lent. We have daily suggestions. This would be a great project to share with your congregation (TTF can provide an activity guide). And, even if you do not observe Lent, you might want to look at our suggestions to see what kinds of changes you can make in your lifestyle. Green Lent Daily Suggestions
Trust For Mutual Understanding:
TTF is thrilled to announce that we received a grant from the Trust for Mutual Understanding. The grant will allow us to bring scientists and faith leaders from Mongolia to the US to study environmental education with a particular focus on mining. This is the third year for this special exchange.
